Introduction of Government Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Goodale (Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness), seconded by Mr. Blair (Minister of Border Security and Organized Crime Reduction), Bill C-93, An Act to provide no-cost, expedited record suspensions for simple possession of cannabis, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.


Presenting Reports from Committees

Ms. Vandenbeld (Ottawa West—Nepean), from the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development, presented the 23rd Report of the Committee (Bill S-240, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (trafficking in human organs), with amendments). — Sessional Paper No. 8510-421-531.

Mr. Fergus (Hull—Aylmer), from the Standing Committee on Finance, presented the 28th Report of the Committee (Bill C-82, An Act to implement a multilateral convention to implement tax treaty related measures to prevent base erosion and profit shifting, without amendment). — Sessional Paper No. 8510-421-532.

A copy of the relevant Minutes of Proceedings (Meetings Nos. 195, 196, 198 and 199) was tabled.


Introduction of Private Members' Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Lloyd (Sturgeon River—Parkland), seconded by Mr. Deltell (Louis-Saint-Laurent), Bill C-437, An Act to amend the Criminal Code, the Corrections and Conditional Release Act and the Prisons and Reformatories Act, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.


Motions

By unanimous consent, it was ordered, — That, in relation to its study of the priorities of Canadian stakeholders having an interest in bilateral and trilateral trade in North America, between Canada, United States and Mexico, and of the impact of tariffs on Canadian businesses, companies and workers, seven members of the Standing Committee on International Trade be authorized to travel to Washington, D.C., United States of America, in the Spring of 2019, and that the necessary staff do accompany the Committee.


By unanimous consent, it was ordered, — That, in relation to its study of the impacts of methamphetamine abuse in Canada, seven members of the Standing Committee on Health be authorized to travel to Vancouver, British Columbia, Calgary, Alberta, Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Montréal, Quebec, in the Spring of 2019, and that the necessary staff do accompany the Committee.


By unanimous consent, it was ordered, — That, in relation to the Annual Conference of the Canadian Council of Public Accounts Committees and Canadian Council of Legislative Auditors, seven members of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts be authorized to travel to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, in the Summer of 2019, and that the necessary staff do accompany the Committee.
