Canada (Registrar of Indian and Northern Affairs), to expand the scope of the Bill so that a grandchild born before 1985 with a female grandparent would receive the same entitlement to status as a grandchild of a male grandparent born in the same period.

M^me Crowder (Nanaimo—Cowichan), appuyée par M^me Davies (Vancouver-Est), propose, — Qu’une instruction soit donnée au Comité permanent des affaires autochtones et du développement du Grand Nord portant qu’il ait le pouvoir, durant son examen du projet de loi C-3, Loi favorisant l'équité entre les sexes relativement à l'inscription au registre des Indiens en donnant suite à la décision de la Cour d'appel de la Colombie-Britannique dans l'affaire McIvor v. Canada (Registrar of Indian and Northern Affairs), d’élargir la portée de ce projet de loi afin qu’un enfant né avant 1985 dont la grand-mère est Indienne ait droit au même statut qu’un enfant né au cours de la même période mais dont le grand-père est Indien.
