Alexandra Mendès, M.P. — Brossard-Saint-Lambert
On November 29, 2021, Alexandra Mendès was re-appointed Assistant Deputy Speaker and Assistant Deputy Chair of Committees of the Whole. Mrs. Mendès is a member of the Liberal Party and was first elected to the House on October 14, 2008, representing the riding of Brossard–La Prairie. In 2011 she was elected to the newly formed riding of Brossard—Saint-Lambert that she continues to represent today.
During the 42nd Parliament, Mrs. Mendès served as Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts. She was also a member of the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates and the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts. In the course of the 40th Parliament, she was a member of the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security, the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights, as well as the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration.
Prior to being elected to the House of Commons, Mrs. Mendès was Executive Director of the Maison internationale de la Rive-Sud, a community organization that provides support and assistance to new immigrants and refugees.
