Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, the committee resumed its study of the CBSA assessment and Revenue Management system (CARM).

Ted Gallivan and Mike Leahy answered questions.

At 5:51 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 5:54 p.m., the meeting resumed.

Kim Campbell, Mark Weber, Tammy Bilodeau, and Renate Jalbert answered questions.

Motion

Tony Baldinelli moved, — That the committee recommends that the federal government immediately suspend the implementation of CARM, currently scheduled for October 21, 2024, until at least April 2025, and that the system only be brought into use after all concerned industry and union stakeholders can provide another update to the Standing Committee on International Trade that demonstrates their improved confidence and readiness for CARM implementation; and the Standing Committee on International Trade can complete its study on CARM and table a final report containing its observations and recommendations.

At 6:17 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 6:30 p.m., the meeting resumed.

It was agreed, — That debate on the motion of Tony Baldinelli be adjourned to Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the last half hour of the meeting.

At 6:32 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
