GOVERNMENT ORDERS

``this House declines to give second reading to Bill C-68, An Act respecting firearms and other weapons, because the principle of establishing a system for licensing and registration of all firearms and the principle of creating a variety of offenses are two unrelated issues that should be addressed separately.''

Mrs. Brown (Calgary Southeast), seconded by Mr. Breitkreuz (Yellowhead), moved, -- That, in the opinion of this House, the government should transfer the responsibility for cultural preservation to individuals by discontinuing federal multiculturalism programs, relinquishing control of multiculturalism thereby allowing multiculturalism to flourish by giving individuals the freedom to pursue their own cultural ideals.
