Pursuant to Standing Order 36, petitions certified correct by the Clerk of Petitions were presented as follows:
-- by Mr. Peric (Cambridge), one concerning sexual orientation (No. 351-2823) and one concerning hormone use in livestock (No. 351-2824);
-- by Mr. Gilmour (Comox -- Alberni), one concerning the official languages of Canada (No. 351-2825) and one concerning abortion (No. 351-2826).
Questions on Order Paper
Mr. Milliken (Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons) presented the answer to question Q-143 on the Order Paper.
GOVERNMENT ORDERS
The Order was read for the consideration of the Business of Supply.
Mr. Chrétien (Frontenac), seconded by Mr. Lefebvre (Champlain), moved, -- That this House denounce the government for reducing the general budget of the Department of Agriculture by 19 percent and milk subsidies by 30 percent and for converting grain transportation subsidies into direct subsidies to Western farmers, thereby enabling the latter to diversify and enjoy an unfair competitive advantage over farmers in Eastern Canada.
Debate arose thereon.

Mr. Riis (Kamloops), seconded by Mr. Taylor (The Battlefords -- Meadow Lake), moved, -- That the Bill be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development.
Debate arose thereon.
Pursuant to Standing Order 96(1), the Order was dropped from the Order Paper.
