Motions
By unanimous consent, Mr. Milliken (Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons), seconded by Mr. Boudria (Glengarry -- Prescott -- Russell), moved, -- That, notwithstanding the provisions of Standing Order 83.1, the Standing Committee on Finance may make an interim report on the matters referred to in the said Standing Order no later than December 12, 1995, and may deposit its final report thereon with the Clerk of the House on January 17, 1996.

-- That the House condemn the government for having dropped the Canadian content requirements in the contracts for the purchase of military equipment and refusing to set up a genuine program for the conversion of the military industry, thus endangering the Canadian aerospace industry located in Montreal.

The House proceeded to the taking of the deferred recorded division on the amendment of Mr. Martin (Esquimalt-Juan de Fuca), seconded by Mr. Chatters (Athabasca), -- That the motion be amended by deleting all the words after the word ``That'' and substituting the following:

``this House declines to give third reading to Bill C-94, An Act to
regulate interprovincial trade in and the importation for commercial
purposes of certain manganese-based substances, since, among other
things,
the Bill does not take measures to compensate for the fact that
MMT-free gasoline would cause the fuel industry to bum more crude oil,
causing greater emissions into the atmosphere, while at the same time
increasing tailpipe nitrous oxide emissions.''
