Introduction of Government Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Dupuy (Minister of Canadian Heritage), seconded by Mr. Anderson (Minister of National Revenue), Bill C-26, An Act to amend the National Library Act, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Recommendation

      His Excellency the Governor General recommends to the House of Commons the appropriation of public revenue under the circumstances, in the manner and for the purposes set out in a measure entitled ``An Act to amend the National Library Act''.

Mr. Peters (Secretary of State (International Financial Institutions)), seconded by Mr. Anderson (Minister of National Revenue), moved, -- That the motion be concurred in.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development of Bill C-24, An Act to amend the Canada Wildlife Act and to make a consequential amendment to another Act.

Mr. Peters (Secretary of State (International Financial Institutions)), for Ms. Copps (Minister of the Environment), seconded by Mr. Anderson (Minister of National Revenue), moved, -- That the Bill be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development.

Debate arose thereon.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

Accordingly, the Bill was read the second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development.


The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Industry of Bill C-12, An Act to amend the Canada Business Corporations Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.

Mr. Manley (Minister of Industry), seconded by Mr. Peters (Secretary of State (International Financial Institutions)), moved, -- That the Bill be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Industry.

Debate arose thereon.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

Accordingly, the Bill was read the second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Industry.


The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Transport of Bill C-21, An Act to amend the Railway Safety Act.

Mr. Peters (Secretary of State (International Financial Institutions)), for Mr. Young (Minister of Transport), seconded by Mr. Robichaud (Secretary of State (Parliamentary Affairs)), moved, -- That the Bill be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Transport.

Debate arose thereon.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

Accordingly, the Bill was read the second time and, by unanimous consent, referred to a Committee of the Whole.

The Committee considered the Bill and reported it without amendment.

Pursuant to Standing Order 76.1(12), Mr. Anderson (Minister of National Revenue), for Mr. Young (Minister of Transport), seconded by Mr. Robichaud (Secretary of State (Parliamentary Affairs)), moved, -- That the Bill be concurred in at report stage.

Accordingly, the Bill was concurred in at report stage.
