Statements by Ministers

Pursuant to Standing Order 33(1), Mr. MacAulay (Secretary of State (Veterans)) made a statement.

Introduction of Government Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 83(4) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Anderson (Minister of National Revenue), for Mr. Martin (Minister of Finance), seconded by Mr. Robichaud (Secretary of State (Parliamentary Affairs)), Bill C-27, An Act to amend the Income Tax Act, the Income Tax Application Rules, the Canada Pension Plan, the Canada Business Corporations Act, the Excise Tax Act, the Unemployment Insurance Act and certain related Acts, was read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Presenting Petitions

Pursuant to Standing Order 36, a petition certified correct by the Clerk of Petitions was presented as follows:

-- by Mr. Speaker (Lethbridge), concerning the Canadian Human Rights Act (No. 351-0267).

GOVERNMENT ORDERS

The Order was read for the consideration of the Business of Supply.

Mr. Ménard (Hochelaga -- Maisonneuve), seconded by Mr. Tremblay (Rosemont), moved, -- That this House condemn the government for its unacceptable delays in developing and implementing a genuine strategy for the conversion of defence industries to civilian production, which would save and create new jobs in high-technology sectors.

Debate arose thereon.

ORAL QUESTIONS

Pursuant to Standing Order 30(5), the House proceeded to Oral Questions.

MOTIONS

By unanimous consent, it was ordered -- That Motion M-280, in the name of Mrs. Guay (Laurentides) in the Order of Precedence of Private Members' Business, be withdrawn and replaced by Motion M-294 in the name of Mrs. Guay (Laurentides), which is listed in today's Notice Paper.

GOVERNMENT ORDERS

Debate resumed on the motion of Mr. Ménard (Hochelaga -- Maisonneuve), seconded by Mr. Tremblay (Rosemont), in relation to the Business of Supply.
