Government Orders
The Order was read for the consideration of amendments made by the Senate to Bill C–22, An Act respecting certain agreements concerning the redevelopment and operation of Terminals 1 and 2 at Lester B. Pearson International Airport.
Mr. Young (Minister of Transport), seconded by Mr. Ouellet (Minister of Foreign Affairs), moved, — That a Message be sent to the Senate to acquaint Their Honours that this House disagrees with the amendments made by the Senate to Bill C–22, An Act respecting certain agreements concerning the redevelopment and operation of Terminals 1 and 2 at Lester B. Pearson International Airport.
Debate arose thereon.
Private Members’ Business
At 5:30 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 30(6), the House proceeded to the consideration of Private Members’ Business.
Mr. Lee (Scarborough–Rouge River), seconded by Mr. Arseneault (Restigouche–Chaleur), moved, — That, in the opinion of this House, the government should ascertain whether current levels of immigration are sustainable in periods of high unemployment and slow economic growth or recession, and if it finds these levels to be unsustainable under such circumstances the government should develop a means of expeditiously adjusting immigration levels in response to economic conditions. (Private Members’ Business M–157)
Debate arose thereon.
Pursuant to Standing Order 96(1), the Order was dropped from the Order Paper.
