Introduction of Government Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Goodale (Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food), seconded by Mrs. Stewart (Secretary of State (Latin America and Africa)), Bill C-72, An Act to amend the Canadian Wheat Board Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Recommendation

His Excellency the Governor General recommends to the House of Commons the appropriation of public revenue under the circumstances, in the manner and for the purposes set out in a measure entitled "An Act to amend the Canadian Wheat Board Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts".

Mr. Loubier (Saint-Hyacinthe -- Bagot), seconded by Mr. Rocheleau (Trois-Rivières), moved the following amendment, -- That the motion be amended by deleting all the words after the word "That" and substituting the following:

"Bill C-70, An Act to amend the Excise Tax Act, the Federal-Provincial Fiscal Arrangements Act, the Income Tax Act, the Debt Servicing and Reduction Account Act and related Acts, be not now read a second time but that it be read a second time this day six months hence."
