GOVERNMENT ORDERS

The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Finance of Bill C-71, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 16, 1999.

Mr. Collenette (Minister of Transport) for Mr. Martin (Minister of Finance), seconded by Mr. Mifflin (Minister of Veterans Affairs), moved, -- That the Bill be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Finance.

Debate arose thereon.

MOTIONS

By unanimous consent, it was ordered, -- That at the conclusion of today's debate on Bill C-219, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (using or operating a stolen motor vehicle in the commission of an offence), all questions necessary to dispose of the motion for second reading shall be deemed put and a recorded division deemed requested and deferred until Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at the expiry of the time provided for Private Members' Business.

GOVERNMENT ORDERS

The House resumed consideration of the motion of Mr. Martin (Minister of Finance), seconded by Mr. Mifflin (Minister of Veterans Affairs), -- That Bill C-71, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 16, 1999, be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Finance.
