Introduction of Private Members' Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Nystrom (Qu'Appelle), seconded by Mr. Mancini (Sydney -- Victoria), Bill C-396, An Act to establish the office of Credit Ombudsman to be an advocate for the interests of consumers and small business in credit matters and to investigate and report on the provision by financial institutions of consumer and small business credit by community and by industry in order to ensure equity in the distribution of credit resources, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.
