GOVERNMENT ORDERS

The Order was read for the third reading of Bill C-12, An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code (Part II) in respect of occupational health and safety, to make technical amendments to the Canada Labour Code (Part I) and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.

Pursuant to Standing Order 45, the House resumed consideration of the motion of Mr. Martin (Esquimalt -- Juan de Fuca), seconded by Mr. Lunn (Saanich -- Gulf Islands), -- That, in the opinion of this House, the government should convene a meeting of ``like-minded nations'' in order to develop a multilateral plan of action to reform international organizations (e.g. International Monetary Fund, World Bank, United Nations) so that they can identify the precursors of conflict and establish multilateral conflict-prevention initiatives. ROYAL ASSENT

A Message was received from the Honourable John Major, Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court of Canada, in his capacity as Deputy Governor General, desiring the immediate attendance of the House in the Senate.

Accordingly, the Speaker, with the Commons, proceeded to the Senate.

Whereupon, the Speaker reported that, when the Commons had been in the Senate, the Honourable the Deputy Governor General was pleased to give, in Her Majesty's name, the Royal Assent to the following Bills:
