Presenting Reports from Committees

Introduction of Government Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Ms. Bradshaw (Minister of Labour), seconded by Mr. Rock (Minister of Health), Bill C-12, An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code (Part II) in respect of occupational health and safety, to make technical amendments to the Canada Labour Code (Part I) and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Recommendation
(Pursuant to Standing Order 79(2))

Her Excellency the Governor General recommends to the House of Commons the appropriation of public revenue under the circumstances, in the manner and for the purposes set out in a measure entitled "An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code (Part II) in respect of occupational health and safety, to make technical amendments to the Canada Labour Code (Part I) and to make consequential amendments to other Acts".

Introduction of Private Members' Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Gallaway (Sarnia -- Lambton), seconded by Mr. Finlay (Oxford), Bill C-276, An Act to amend the Competition Act, 1998 (negative option marketing), was introduced, read the first time and ordered to be printed.

Pursuant to Standing Order 86.1, the Bill (previously Bill C-393, 1st Session, 36th Parliament) was deemed read the second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Industry.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. White (North Vancouver), seconded by Mr. Mayfield (Cariboo -- Chilcotin), Bill C-277, An Act to provide for the holding of citizen-initiated referenda on specific questions, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. White (North Vancouver), seconded by Mr. Mayfield (Cariboo -- Chilcotin), Bill C-278, An Act to amend the Canada Elections Act (appointment of election officers), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. White (North Vancouver), seconded by Mr. Mayfield (Cariboo -- Chilcotin), Bill C-279, An Act to amend the Canada Elections Act (election expenses), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

GOVERNMENT ORDERS

Mr. Duceppe (Laurier -- Sainte-Marie), seconded by Mr. de Savoye (Portneuf), moved, -- That this House reaffirms its desire to maintain the provisions of section 6.1(a) of the Air Canada Public Participation Act limiting ownership of the capital stock of Air Canada by any person or group to 10 % of the voting shares.
