Presenting Reports from Inter-parliamentary Delegations

Pursuant to Standing Order 34(1), Mr. Hanger (Calgary Northeast) presented the Report of the Canadian NATO Parliamentary Association respecting its participation at meetings of the Defence and Security Committee of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, held in Washington, D.C., and Colorado Springs, from January 30 to February 6, 2001. -- Sessional Paper No. 8565-371-50-01.

MESSAGES FROM THE SENATE

A Message was received from the Senate informing this House that the Senate has passed the following Bill, to which the concurrence of the House is desired:

    S-5, An Act to amend the Blue Water Bridge Authority Act.

GOVERNMENT ORDERS

The Order was read for the consideration of the Business of Supply.

Mr. White (Langley -- Abbotsford), seconded by Mr. Bailey (Souris -- Moose Mountain), moved, -- That the government establish a national sex offender registry by January 1, 2002.

Debate arose thereon.

Mr. Day (Okanagan -- Coquihalla), seconded by Mr. Strahl (Fraser Valley), moved the following amendment, -- That the motion be amended by replacing the number ``1'' with the number ``30''.

The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights of Bill C-247, An Act to amend the Criminal code (forfeiture of property relating to child pornography crimes).

Mr. Casson (Lethbridge), seconded by Mr. McNally (Dewdney -- Alouette), moved, -- That the Bill be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights.
