Private Members' Business

At 11:00 a.m., pursuant to Standing Order 30(6), the House proceeded to the consideration of Private Members' Business.

Mr. Breitkreuz (Yorkton—Melville) , seconded by Mr. Casson (Lethbridge) , moved, — That the Standing Committee on Health fully examine, study and report to Parliament on: (a) whether or not abortions are medically necessary for the purpose of maintaining health, preventing disease or diagnosing or treating an injury, illness or disability; and (b) the health risks for women undergoing abortions compared to women carrying their babies to full term. (Private Members' Business M-83)

Debate arose thereon.

Pursuant to Standing Order 93, the Order was dropped to the bottom of the order of precedence on the Order Paper.

Government Orders

The Order was read for the consideration at report stage of Bill C-28, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 18, 2003, as reported by the Standing Committee on Finance with an amendment.

Pursuant to Standing Order 39(5), the failure of the Ministry to respond to the following question was deemed referred to the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates:

Pursuant to Standing Order 39(5), the failure of the Ministry to respond to the following question was deemed referred to the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology:

Q-179 — Mr. Ritz (Battlefords—Lloydminster) – For the past five years, can the government provide a breakdown of federal research funding, including research projects and infrastructure, by university, including the name of the recipient, a brief description, the type of funding and the amount?
