The Standing Committee on Health met in a video recorded session at 10:49 a.m. this day, in Room 209 West Block, the Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Bonnie Brown, Colin Carrie, Jean Crowder, Nicole Demers, Ruby Dhalla, Steven John Fletcher, James Lunney, Réal Ménard, Michael John Savage and Hon. Robert Thibault.

 

Associate Members present: Paul Szabo.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier, Analyst; Sonya Norris, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Mothers Against Drunk Driving: Karen Dunham, National President; Andrew Murie, Executive Director. Canadian Paediatric Society: Robin Walker, President. Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Group of Ottawa: Elspeth Ross, Co-facilitator. Éduc'alcool: Hubert Sacy, Director General. Centre for Addiction and Mental Health: Robert Mann, Senior Research Scientist .

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the motion presented by the Chair at today's meeting with respect to the Fourth Report of the Committee on the subject of Tobacco Reporting Regulations, tabled in the House of Commons on Friday, December 16, 2004, be dealt with at the next scheduled meeting of the Committee on Monday, March 21, 2005.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, February 9, 2005, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-206, An Act to amend the Food and Drugs Act (warning labels regarding the consumption of alcohol).
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
