Private Members' Business

At 11:00 a.m., pursuant to Standing Order 30(6), the House proceeded to the consideration of Private Members' Business.

The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights of Bill C-252, An Act to amend the Divorce Act (access for spouse who is terminally ill or in critical condition).

Mr. Casson (Lethbridge), seconded by Mr. Doyle (St. John's East), moved, — That the Bill be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights.

Debate arose thereon.

Pursuant to Standing Order 93(1), the Order was dropped to the bottom of the order of precedence on the Order Paper.

Government Orders

The House resumed consideration of the motion of Mr. Toews (Minister of Justice), seconded by Mr. Solberg (Minister of Citizenship and Immigration), — That Bill C-9, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (conditional sentence of imprisonment), be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights.

The debate continued.

The question was put on the motion and, pursuant to Standing Order 45, the recorded division was deferred until Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at the expiry of the time provided for Government Orders.


The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food of Bill C-15, An Act to amend the Agricultural Marketing Programs Act.
