Business of Supply

The Order was read for the consideration of the Business of Supply.

Ms. Minna (Beaches—East York), seconded by Mrs. Jennings (Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Lachine), moved, — That, in the opinion of the House, the government fails to recognize the many roles of women in Canadian society and the importance of providing all Canadian women with equal opportunity; and the House objects to the government’s partisan and discriminatory cuts in federal support for women’s programs and services.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

By unanimous consent, it was ordered, — That, in relation to its study on democratic development, eight members of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development be authorized to travel to London, United Kingdom, Helsinki, Finland, Oslo, Norway, Stockholm, Sweden and Copenhagen, Denmark from October 7 to 14, 2006, and that the necessary staff do accompany the Committee.
