Introduction of Government Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Paradis (Secretary of State (Agriculture)) for Mr. Clement (Minister of Health), seconded by Ms. Guergis (Secretary of State (Foreign Affairs and International Trade) (Sport)), Bill C-54, An Act to promote safety and security with respect to human pathogens and toxins, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Recommendation
(Pursuant to Standing Order 79(2))
Her Excellency the Governor General recommends to the House of Commons the appropriation of public revenue under the circumstances, in the manner and for the purposes set out in a measure entitled “An Act to promote safety and security with respect to human pathogens and toxins”.

Mr. Mills (Red Deer), from the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development, presented the Fifth Report of the Committee (Bill C-377, An Act to ensure Canada assumes its responsibilities in preventing dangerous climate change, with amendments). — Sessional Paper No. 8510-392-109.

A copy of the relevant Minutes of Proceedings (Meetings Nos. 8, 10 to 13, 16 to 19 and 22 to 27) was tabled.

Introduction of Private Members' Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Atamanenko (British Columbia Southern Interior), seconded by Mr. Siksay (Burnaby—Douglas), Bill C-538, An Act to bring the Food and Drug Regulations in line with the Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.
