Len Webber moved, — That the final framework on Lyme disease not be tabled until the Standing Committee on Health has had the opportunity to review the draft framework which should aim to (a) establish proper guidelines regarding the prevention, identification, treatment and management of Lyme disease and the sharing of best practices throughout Canada, and (b) ensure the creation and distribution of standardized educational materials related to Lyme disease for use by any public health care provider within Canada designed to increase national awareness about the disease and enhance its prevention, identification, treatment and management.
RULING BY THE CHAIR
The Chair ruled the proposed motion inadmissible as it went beyond the mandate of the Committee as outlined in Standing Order 108(2).
On motion of Don Davies, it was agreed, — That, notwithstanding the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, May 4, 2017, the Committee dedicate the meetings of Tuesday, June 6 and Thursday, June 8, 2017, to study the final federal framework on Lyme disease; and that officials from the Department of Health and from the Lyme disease community be invited to appear before the Committee.
It was agreed, — That the Committee dedicate the meetings of Tuesday, June 13 and Thursday, June 15, 2017, to the study of antimicrobial resistance.
At 12:56 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
