The Speaker informed the House that a vacancy had occurred in the representation in the House of Commons, for the Electoral District of Markham—Thornhill, in the Province of Ontario, by reason of the resignation of the Hon. John McCallum, and that, pursuant to paragraph 25(1)(b) of the Parliament of Canada Act, he had addressed, on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, his warrant to the Acting Chief Electoral Officer for the issue of a writ for the election of a member to fill the vacancy.

By unanimous consent, it was ordered, — That, at the conclusion of today's debate on the opposition motion in the name of the Member for Louis-Saint-Laurent, all questions necessary to dispose of the motion be deemed put and a recorded division deemed requested and deferred until Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at the expiry of the time provided for Oral Questions.
