Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, June 3, 2024, the committee resumed its study of advancements in home building technologies.

Jim Facette, Daniel Pascoe and Marcos Silveira made statements and answered questions.

Motion

Scott Aitchison moved, — That, with respect to the article published by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, or CMHC, and Mr. Aled ab Iorwerth on October 3, 2024, titled "In 2023, higher rates resulted in 30,000 fewer housing starts", the committee hold one meeting for two hours with the following witness from CMHC: Aled ab Iorwerth, Deputy Chief Economist, CMHC.

Amendment

Bonita Zarrillo moved, — That the motion be amended by adding after the words "Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation" the following: “and the following witness from the Bank of Canada: Tim Macklem, Governor of the Bank of Canada”.

It was agreed, — That the deadline for the submission of witness list in relation to the study of workers in the seasonal industry and the Employment Insurance Program be by end of day on Friday, October 25, 2024.
