Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, June 3, 2024, the committee resumed its study of advancements in home building technologies.

Andy Berube and Stephen Smith made statements and answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That an agenda be prepared and distributed in advance of any upcoming planned in-camera deliberations.

It was agreed, — That the submission received in ASL or QSL from the Canadian Association of the Deaf after the deadline be accepted and considered as a brief in relation to the study of Canada without barriers by 2040.

It was agreed, — That the committee engage the services of an external organization for a total amount not to exceed $1,700 to assist the committee in its study of Canada without barrier by 2040; and that the contractor provide the following services to the committee: assist the committee with the translation of a brief received in sign language for its study of Canada without barriers by 2040.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $1,700, for the study of Canada without barriers by 2040, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the deadline for the submission of briefs in relation to the study of workers in the seasonal industry and the Employment Insurance program be Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

ORDERED, — That the press release for the submission of briefs in relation to the study on workers in the seasonal industry and the Employment Insurance program be approved and released on the committee’s website.

It was agreed, — That the committee hold two meetings on the study of Bill C-378, An Act amending the Canada Labour Code (complaints by former employees); invite the following witnesses to appear for one hour each: the sponsor of the Bill C-378, departmental officials, and a panel consisting of four witnesses, one from each party; and commence clause-by-clause consideration of the Bill at the start of the fourth hour of the study.

It was agreed, — That the members of the committee submit to the clerk all of their proposed amendments to Bill C-378, An Act amending the Canada Labour Code (complaints by former employees) no later than noon on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

It was agreed, — That the deadline for the submission of briefs in relation to the study of Bill C-378, An Act amending the Canada Labour Code (complaints by former employees), be Friday, November 22, 2024.

At 12:54 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
