Private Members' Business

At 11:00 a.m., pursuant to Standing Order 30(6), the House proceeded to the consideration of Private Members' Business.

The House resumed consideration of the motion of Mr. McTeague (Pickering--Ajax--Uxbridge), seconded by Mr. Szabo (Mississauga South), -- That Bill C-248, An Act to amend the Competition Act, be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology.

The debate continued.

Pursuant to Standing Order 93, the Order was dropped to the bottom of the order of precedence on the Order Paper.

Government Orders

The Order was read for the consideration at report stage of Bill C-37, An Act to facilitate the implementation of those provisions of first nations' claim settlements in the Provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan that relate to the creation of reserves or the addition of land to existing reserves, and to make related amendments to the Manitoba Claim Settlements Implementation Act and the Saskatchewan Treaty Land Entitlement Act, as reported by the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs, Northern Development and Natural Resources without amendment.

Mr. Boudria (Minister of State and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons) for Mr. Nault (Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development), seconded by Ms. Robillard (President of the Treasury Board), moved, — That the Bill be concurred in at report stage.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on division.

Accordingly, the Bill was concurred in at report stage.

Pursuant to Standing Order 76.1(11), Mr. Boudria (Minister of State and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons) for Mr. Nault (Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development), seconded by Ms. Robillard (President of the Treasury Board), moved, — That the Bill be now read a third time and do pass.

Debate arose thereon.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

Accordingly, the Bill was read the third time and passed.


The Order was read for the consideration at report stage of Bill C-39, An Act to replace the Yukon Act in order to modernize it and to implement certain provisions of the Yukon Northern Affairs Program Devolution Transfer Agreement, and to repeal and make amendments to other Acts, as reported by the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs, Northern Development and Natural Resources without amendment.
