Mr. Adams (Peterborough), from the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities, presented the Second Report of the Committee (Main Estimates 2001-2002 -- Votes 1, 5, 10, 15 and 20 under HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT). -- Sessional Paper No. 8510-371-34.

Motions

By unanimous consent, Mr. Lee (Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons), seconded by Mr. Adams (Peterborough), moved, -- That the 16th Report of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs, presented earlier today, be concurred in.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

GOVERNMENT ORDERS

Mr. Normand (Secretary of State (Science, Research and Development)) for Mr. Collenette (Minister of Transport), seconded by Ms. Fry (Secretary of State (Multiculturalism) (Status of Women)), moved, -- That the Bill be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Transport and Government Operations.

Debate arose thereon.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on division.

Accordingly, the Bill was read the second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Transport and Government Operations.

The House resumed consideration of the motion of Ms. Copps (Minister of Canadian Heritage), seconded by Ms. Caplan (Minister of Citizenship and Immigration), -- That Bill C-10, An Act respecting the national marine conservation areas of Canada, be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage.

The debate continued.

The question was put on the motion and, pursuant to Standing Order 45, the recorded division was deferred until Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at the expiry of the time provided for Government Orders.
