The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

That, in relation to the study of increased francophone immigration to Canada, the proposed budget in the amount of $194,114.36, for the committee’s travel to Yaounde (Cameroon), Libreville (Gabon), Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of the Congo) in fall 2023, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the Commissioner of Official Languages be invited to appear before the committee in view of the study of increased francophone immigration to Canada for one hour, and on the study of the Annual Report 2022-2023 of the Commissioner of Official Languages for one hour.

At 9:12 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:25 a.m., the sitting resumed in public.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, April 21, 2023, the committee resumed its study of increased Francophone immigration to Canada.

Anne Michèle Meggs, Bintou Sacko, Yves-Gérard Méhou-Loko and Roukya Abdi-Aden made statements and, with Alain Dupuis, answered questions.

At 10:44 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
