Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, September 27, 2017, the Committee commenced consideration of Bill C-58, Act to amend the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.

The Ministers made statements and, with Jennifer Dawson and Allen Sutherland, answered questions.

At 4:36 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:41 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Jennifer Dawson and Adair Crosby answered questions.

Motion

Peter Kent moved, — That, in relation to consideration of Bill C-58, the Information Commissioner and the Privacy Commissioner be invited to appear.

It was agreed, — That the motion be amended by adding after the words "Information Commissioner", the words "be invited to appear for two hours", and by adding after the words "invited to appear", the words "for one hour".

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

That, in relation to consideration of Bill C-58, the Information Commissioner be invited to appear for two hours and the Privacy Commissioner be invited to appear for one hour.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 0.

Jennifer Dawson and Ruth Naylor answered questions.

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
