Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the subcommittee on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, the subcommittee commenced its study of implementation of Canada’s universal periodic review.

Alex Neve, Meghan Doherty, Charlotte-Anne Malischewski, Shelagh Day, Alexi White, Michèle Biss, Anjum Sultana, and Nishin Nathwani made statements and answered questions.

The subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to subcommittee business.

On motion of Alexis Brunelle-Duceppe, it was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee hold one meeting, on December 3, 2024, to study the current status of deported Ukrainian children, the human rights violations they face, the steps to bring them back to Ukraine, and the role international community can play; that the members of the Sub-Committee invite any witnesses they deem relevant to appear; that the Sub-Committee issue a press release following the study.

At 5:37 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
