Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, May 1, 2019, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill S-238, An Act to amend the Fisheries Act and the Wild Animal and Plant Protection and Regulation of International and Interprovincial Trade Act (importation and exportation of shark fins).

The Committee commenced its clause-by-clause study of the Bill.

Pursuant to Standing Order 75(1), consideration of Clause 1, Short Title, and the Preamble was postponed.

Migration of Lobster and Snow Crab in Atlantic Canada and the Impact of Changes to Lobster Carapace Size
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, December 6, 2018, the Committee resumed its study of the migration of lobster and snow crab in Atlantic Canada and the impact of changes to lobster carapace size.

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

Committee Business
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans undertake a study to assess the feasibility of a third party habitat banking framework for implementation in Canada. This would include a comparative study with other jurisdictions where a monetized system for habitat banking is already in place.

Aquatic Invasive Species
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motions adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, and Wednesday, May 1, 2019, the Committee resumed its study of aquatic invasive species.

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

At 5:06 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
