At 1:06 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 1:08 p.m., the sitting resumed.
It was agreed, — That the Committee, in light of the letter provided by the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard & the Minister of Transport, review and study the scope of application of the Fisheries Act, and specifically the serious harm to fish prohibition; how the prohibition is implemented to protect fish and fish habitat; the capacity of Fisheries and Oceans Canada to deliver on fish and fish habitat protection through project review, monitoring, and enforcement; the definitions of serious harm to fish and commercial, recreational, and Aboriginal fisheries; the use of regulatory authorities under the Fisheries Act; and other related provisions of the act, and provide its recommendations in a report to the House, no later than January 30th, 2017.
It was agreed, — That the members submit electronically to the Clerk, until Monday, September 19, 2016 at 5 p.m., any additional witnesses for the Study of Wild Atlantic Salmon in Eastern Canada and Northern Cod Stock, related to the trip to St. John's, NL, Port De Grave, NL, Fogo, NL, Miramichi, NB.
It was agreed, — That the Committee invite departmental officials and scientists on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, to provide a briefing on Northern Cod Stock.
At 1:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
