Minutes of Proceedings
Todd Doherty moved, — That pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans amend the end date of the study on the Fisheries Act Review to include at least four additional meetings to ensure that affected stakeholders in every region of the country are provided with an opportunity to appear; and to guarantee that the Committee can properly incorporate and respond to the feedback received from public consultations launched by the Government of Canada, at the Committee’s earliest convenience.
Debate arose thereon.
Ken McDonald moved, — That the debate be now adjourned.
The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 4.
The Hon. Dominic LeBlanc and Serge Cormier made statements and, with Kevin Stringer and Catherine Blewett, answered questions.
It was agreed, — That 10 minutes be added to the end of the meeting.
Questioning of the witnesses resumed.
Todd Doherty moved, — That pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans conduct a pre-budget study on the effects that the “price on carbon” announced by the Prime Minister on October 3rd, 2016 would have on the aquaculture sector in Canada; that this study be comprised of no less than four meetings to be held at the Committee’s earliest convenience; that departmental officials from Fisheries and Oceans Canada be in attendance for at least one meeting; that the Committee report its findings and recommendations to the House of Commons.
Debate arose thereon.
The question was put on the motion and it was negatived, by a show of hands: YEAS: 3; NAYS: 5.
Questioning of the witnesses resumed.
