Ghislaine Saikaley made a statement and, with Mary Donaghy, answered questions.
At 12:07 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 12:20 p.m., the sitting resumed in a non-televised session.
The Committee resumed consideration of the motion of François Choquette, — That the Committee recommend to the Prime Minister that he meet with the Fédération des communautés francophones et acadiennes du Canada and the Quebec Community Groups Network in order to include them in the process for selecting the next Commissioner of Official Languages; and that the Chair report this to the House.
The debate continued.
John Nater moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the word “include” with the word “consult”.
After debate, the question was put on the amendment of John Nater and it was negatived on the following recorded division:
YEAS: Sylvie Boucher, François Choquette, Bernard Généreux, John Nater — 4;
NAYS: René Arseneault, Linda Lapointe, Paul Lefebvre, Darrell Samson, Dan Vandal — 5.
It was agreed, — That the debate be adjourned until Tuesday, June 20, 2017 .
