Pursuant to the order of reference of Wednesday, May 4, 2022, the committee commenced consideration of Bill C-242, An Act to amend the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (temporary resident visas for parents and grandparents).

The witness made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:03 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:18 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, the committee resumed its study of the recruitment and acceptance rates of foreign students.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Differential Treatment in Recruitment and Acceptance Rates of Foreign Students in Quebec and in the Rest of Canada".

It was agreed, — That the Chair, clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That dissenting or supplementary opinions be in Calibri 12-point font, left aligned, single-spaced, and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the clerk of the committee, not later than 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the committee study the Subject Matter of Part 5, Division 23 of Bill C-19 on Thursday, May 19, 2022, and that the clerk be instructed to invite the Minister and Department of Citizenship and Immigration officials to appear.

It was agreed, — That the Law Clerk and Department of Citizenship and Immigration officials be invited to appear on Thursday, May 19, 2022, to provide a briefing on production of papers.

It was agreed, — That the consideration of Bill C-242 consist of three panels of witnesses, including one with officials, prior to the clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-242.

At 1:15 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
