It was agreed, — That Luc Desilets be allowed to be accompanied by two staff members during the meeting.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee undertake a study on the experience of Indigenous Veterans and Black Veterans, inclusive of all gender expressions, with regard to: (a) physical health, mental health, and safety concerns, (b) supports for their transition to civilian life, (c) sexual trauma during service, (d) housing and homelessness, (e) Veterans Affairs Canada programs and supports for them, and (f) difficulties encountered during calls to participate in a foreign mission;

That the committee invite the Minister of Veterans Affairs and department officials; that the committee hold no fewer than 6 meetings to hear from witnesses; that the Committee report its findings and recommendations to the House; and that, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That, a) During the meeting on Wednesday, February 1, 2024, the committee schedule an hour and a half to review the recommendations in relation to the draft report for its study of Experience of Women Veterans and that the last 30 minutes be held in public and be dedicated to committee business; b) During the week of February 5, 2024, one hour be set aside to hear from the Canadian Dog Service Unit and from Paula MacDonald in relation to its study on Experience of Women Veterans; c) The committee dedicate the following four meetings to undertake its study of Transition to Civilian Life and, if needed, one meeting for the study of the National Monument to Canada’s Mission in Afghanistan.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee undertake a study on the effects of exposure to burn pits on Canadian Veterans, including but not limited to, during the mission in Afghanistan, as well as the potential long-term effects on the health and well-being of Veterans. That the committee hold a minimum of 4 meetings to hear from witnesses; that the committee report its findings and recommendations to the House; and that, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $8,500, for the study of the National Monument to Canada’s Mission in Afghanistan, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $500, for the study of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2023-2024, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $6,200, for the Briefing on Trauma-Informed Practices, be adopted.
