Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, the committee resumed its study of fairness in the services offered to Veterans: francophones and anglophones, men and women, and the LGBTQ+ community.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

Motion

Frank Caputo moved, — That, given that Juno Beach is one of the most sacred places in Canadian military history, the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs objects to plans to develop the area immediately adjacent to the Juno Beach Centre, expresses its support for the Save Juno Beach campaign in Canada, calls on the government to provide financial support for the Juno Beach Centre Association in order to protect the integrity of Canada's primary site of Second World War commemoration overseas, and reports this motion to the House.

Amendment

Darrell Samson moved, — That the motion be amended by adding after the words “to provide financial” the following: “or other”.

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

Integrity of Juno Beach Site
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee commenced its study of Integrity of Juno Beach Site.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.
