Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, the committee resumed its study of derelict and abandoned vessels.

Roberta Bowman and Chloe Dubois made statements and answered questions.

Motion

Mike Kelloway moved, — That, upon tabling of the Supplementary Estimates (B) for the fiscal year 2024-25, the committee invite Minister Lebouthillier to testify on the Supplementary Estimates (B) by no later than the end of the current supply period.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

Mel Arnold moved, — That the motion be amended by deleting the words “no later than the end of the current supply period” and replacing it with the words “for a minimum of two hours by Wednesday, December 4, 2024”.

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

That, upon tabling of the Supplementary Estimates (B) for the fiscal year 2024-25, the committee invite Minister Lebouthillier to testify on the Supplementary Estimates (B) for a minimum of two hours by Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

The committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a draft report.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of derelict and abandoned vessels, the deadline for the submission of briefs be on Friday, November 29, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of derelict and abandoned vessels, the deadline for submitting recommendations to the clerk of the committee be Friday, November 29, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the impact of the reopening of the cod fishery in Newfoundland and Labrador and Quebec, the deadline for the submission of briefs be on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.

At 1:06 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
