RULING BY THE CHAIR
A question of privilege having been raised by Rick Perkins, regarding the testimony of Minister Diane Lebouthillier and her response on the consultations done with fisheries associations, the Chair ruled that he would take the matter under advisement and promised to render a decision at a later time.
Whereupon, Rick Perkins appealed the decision of the Chair.
The question: "Shall the decision of the Chair be sustained?" was put and the decision was overturned on the following recorded division:
YEAS: Ken Hardie, Mike Kelloway, Annie Koutrakis, Robert J. Morrissey, Patrick Weiler — 5;
NAYS: Mel Arnold, Lisa Marie Barron, Richard Bragdon, Caroline Desbiens, Rick Perkins, Clifford Small — 6.
At 11:32 a.m., the meeting was suspended.
At 11:34 a.m., the meeting resumed.
The discussion on the question of privilege continued.
The Chair ruled that he would take the matter under advisement and promised to render a decision at a later time.
At 12:06 p.m., the meeting was suspended.
At 12:14 p.m., the meeting resumed.
Gideon Mordecai, Jesse Zeman and Sonia Strobel made statements and answered questions.
At 1:23 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
