Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B), 2024-25: Votes 1b, 5b and 10b under Department of Fisheries and Oceans, referred to the committee on Monday, November 18, 2024.

The Chair called Vote 1b under Department of Fisheries and Oceans.

The Minister made a statement and, with Annette Gibbons and Mario Pelletier, answered questions.

At 5:32 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 5:36 p.m., the meeting resumed.

Annette Gibbons, Mario Pelletier, Adam Burns and Niall O’Dea answered questions.

Motion

Lisa Marie Barron moved, — That the committee request Fisheries and Oceans Canada provide documentation detailing in the current fiscal year: a) the amount of the Pacific Salmon Strategy Initiative budget allocation that has been allocated, and the amount spent, for stock assessment; b) under PSSI’s Conservation and Stewardship pillar, the list of specific projects that have received funding commitments and the amounts committed to each project; and c) the total amount of funding that has been disbursed to date since 2021 under each of the strategy’s pillars.

Debate arose thereon.

At 6:02 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 6:03 p.m., the meeting resumed.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 11; NAYS: 0.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

RULING BY THE CHAIR

The Chair ruled that the committee now do the votes on the credits of the Supplementary Estimates (B), 2024-25.

Whereupon, Rick Perkins appealed the decision of the Chair.

The question: “Shall the decision of the Chair be sustained?” was put and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:
