Pursuant to the order of reference of Wednesday, February 1, 2023, the committee resumed consideration of the report of the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Quebec 2022.

Alexis Brunelle-Duceppe, Marilène Gill and Mario Simard made statements and answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Motion

Michael Cooper moved, — That the committee, in relation to its study of foreign interference in elections, beginning the week this motion is adopted, hold an additional meeting, at least two hours in length, during each House sitting week to accommodate this study, in addition to the regularly scheduled meetings of the committee.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

Alexandre Boulerice, Anju Dhillon, Soraya Martinez Ferrada, Hon. David Lametti and Hon. Marc Miller made statements and answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Debate resumed on the motion of Michael Cooper.

Amendment

Sherry Romanado moved, — that the motion be amended by replacing the words “hold an additional meeting, at least two hours in length” with the words “add an additional hour to its regularly scheduled meetings” and by deleting the words “in addition to the regularly scheduled meetings of the committee”.

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Sherry Romanado and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

NAYS: Luc Berthold, Marie-Hélène Gaudreau, Jacques Gourde, John Nater — 5.

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

That the committee, in relation to its study of foreign interference in elections, beginning the week this motion is adopted, add an additional hour to its regularly scheduled meetings during each House sitting week to accommodate this study.
