The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $5,750, for the study of Testimony Related to the Committee's Core Mandate, be adopted.

Motion

Michelle Ferreri moved, — Given the unprecedent wave of violence against women and feminicides, the committee undertake a study on violence against women for no less than five meetings. All parties are to submit witnesses, but the priority must be given to Megan Walker and Cait Alexander, whose testimonies were cut short, and the committee seek additional resources to let these witnesses testify for as long as they need to tell their stories.

Debate arose thereon.

Motion

Lisa Hepfner moved, — That the committee proceed to sit in camera.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Leah Gazan, Lisa Hepfner, Emmanuella Lambropoulos, Andréanne Larouche, Marc G. Serré, Sonia Sidhu, Anita Vandenbeld — 7;

NAYS: Michelle Ferreri, Laila Goodridge, Anna Roberts — 3.

At 11:39 a.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 12:01 p.m., the meeting resumed in camera.

It was agreed, — that the committee continue its study of coercive behaviour until the end of September.

At 1:01 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
