Pursuant to the order of reference of Wednesday, November 1, 2023, the committee commenced consideration of Bill S-205, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and to make consequential amendments to another Act (interim release and domestic violence recognizance orders).

Pierre-Hugues Boisvenu made statement and answered questions.

At 4:42 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:44 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Diane Tremblay, Philip Viater and Martine Jeanson made statements and answered questions.

On motion of Anna Roberts, it was agreed, — That, pursuant to the order of reference from the House dated Thursday, November 9, 2023, the committee invite the Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Youth, to appear for no fewer than two hours regarding the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2023-24, and that this meeting take place as soon as possible, and no later than Thursday, December 7, 2023.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $17,750, for the study of Bill S-205, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and to make consequential amendments to another Act (interim release and domestic violence recognizance orders), be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the members of the committee submit to the clerk all of their proposed amendments to Bill S‑205, no later than noon on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

At 5:34 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
