The Chair presented the Ninth Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows:
Your subcommittee met on Monday, September 23, 2024, to consider the business of the committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:
- That the meetings on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, Wednesday, October 2, 2024, Monday, October 7, 2024, and for one hour on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, be dedicated to the study of the factors leading to the recent fires in Jasper National Park.
- That committee members submit a witness list to the Clerk for the study of the factors leading to the recent fires in Jasper National Park by Friday, September 27, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.
- That, notwithstanding the motion adopted on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, the meeting on Monday, October 21, 2024, be dedicated to the briefing on the Net Zero Accelerator Fund.
- That the meeting on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, for one hour, and the meetings on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, Monday, October 28, Wednesday, October 30, and for one hour on Monday, November 4, 2024, be dedicated to the study of the environment and climate impacts related to the Canadian financial system.
- That the meeting on Monday, November 4, 2024, for one hour, be dedicated to the review of the report on the profits and emissions reduction efforts in Canada's oil and gas industry.
- That the meeting on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, be dedicated to the review of the report on the emergency order for boreal caribou protection under the Species at Risk Act.
- That the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development and government officials be invited to provide a briefing on the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development 2024 Fall Reports on Monday, November 18, 2024.
It was agreed, - That the Ninth Report from the subcommittee be concurred in.
By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That the Environment and Climate Change Canada officials stay in the second hour to answer questions in relation to the factors leading to the recent fires in Jasper National Park.
The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That the next time Andrew Campbell meets or communicates with the Parks Canada Agency employees in Jasper, he is to express the committee's gratitude and sympathy for what they have endured over the past year.
At 6:28 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
