Ken Hodges, Randy Schroeder, Glenn Hargrove and Jessica Kaknevicius made statements and, with Michael Norton and Dan Thompson, answered questions.
Dan Mazier moved, — That the committee expand its study on the Jasper wildfire by four additional meetings to hear from forest management experts, stakeholders, Indigenous communities and impacted individuals, and the committee invite the Ministerial Lead for Jasper, Randy Boissonnault, to appear for no less than one hour.
Debate arose thereon.
At 5:50 p.m., the meeting was suspended.
At 6:07 p.m., the meeting resumed.
Monique Pauzé moved, — That the motion be amended by:
- replacing the word “four” with the word “two”;
- deleting the words “forest management experts, stakeholders”;
- adding the words after “invididuals”; the following: “That these meetings take place on Monday, October 21, 2024, and Wednesday, October 23, 2024;”
- adding the words after “Randy Boissonnault” the following: “, accompanied by Parks Canada officials,”; and
- replacing the words “for no less than one hour” with the words “at a two-hour meeting”.
Debate arose thereon.
Adam van Koeverden moved, — That the amendment be amended by replacing the words “on Monday, October 21, 2024, and Wednesday, October 23, 2024” with the following “after the investigation into the 2024 Jasper Wildfire Complex”.
After debate, the question was put on the subamendment of Adam van Koeverden and it was negatived on the following recorded division:

That the committee invite the Ministerial Lead for Jasper, Randy Boissonnault, accompanied by Parks Canada officials, to appear at a two-hour meeting.
