The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $26,200, for the study of Bill S-5, An Act to amend the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999, to make related amendments to the Food and Drugs Act and to repeal the Perfluorooctane Sulfonate Virtual Elimination Act, be adopted.

Pursuant to the order of reference of Thursday, November 3, 2022, the committee resumed consideration of Bill S-5, An Act to amend the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999, to make related amendments to the Food and Drugs Act and to repeal the Perfluorooctane Sulfonate Virtual Elimination Act.

Sylvia Plain, Joseph F. Castrilli, Justyna Laurie-Lean and Jean Piette made statements and, with Fe de Leon, answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Motion

Damien C. Kurek moved, — That the committee undertake a study of the Supplementary Estimates (B), 2022-23, referred to the committee on Thursday, November 17, 2022, that the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change be invited to appear before the committee on the Supplementary Estimates (B), 2022-23, for two hours, and that this meeting be held as soon as possible and be televised.

Debate arose thereon.

On motion of Terry Duguid, it was agreed, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “for two hours” with the words “for one hour”.

The question was put on the motion, as amended, and it was agreed to.

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

On motion of Terry Duguid, it was agreed, — That the committee do now adjourn.
