Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, the committee resumed its study of the environment and climate impacts related to the Canadian financial system.

Nathan de Arriba-Sellier, Keith Stewart, Julien Beaulieu and Aswath Damodaran made statements and answered questions.

Motion

Adam van Koeverden moved, —

That this committee undertake a pre-study on Bill C-73, An Act respecting transparency and accountability in relation to certain commitments Canada has made under the Convention on Biological Diversity. To this end, the Committee hold a minimum of 5 meetings.

  1. Invite the Minister of the Environment and Environment and Climate Change Canada officials;
  2. That this study begin within 7 days of the adoption of this motion.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

Monique Pauzé moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “within 7 days of the adoption of this motion” with the following: “following the completion of the witness testimony of the study on the environment and climate impacts related to the Canadian financial system.”.
