Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, June 6, 2024, the committee resumed its study of the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.

Greig Sproule and Jon McKenzie made statements and answered questions.

Motion

Shannon Stubbs moved, — Given that,

1. On April 1st, the Liberal Government increased the consumer carbon tax by 23%.

2. 70% of Canadians and 70% of Provincial Premiers are opposed to the latest carbon tax increase.

3. The NDP Premier of Manitoba recently came up against the carbon tax and plans to put forward a proposal to exempt the province from the carbon tax.

4. 1 in 5 Canadians live in energy poverty.

In order to lower energy costs for Canadians living in energy poverty, the committee report to the House its recommendation that the Liberal Government abolish the consumer carbon levy, more commonly referred to as the carbon tax.

Debate arose thereon.

Motion

Julie Dabrusin moved, — That the debate be now adjourned.
