At 12:37 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the committee continue to sit.
Shannon Stubbs moved, — The committee recognize that Bill C-69, An Act to enact the Impact Assessment Act and the Canadian Energy Regulator Act, has been ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of Canada in a 5-2 decision, that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court said that Parliament has to “act within the enduring division of powers framework laid out in the Constitution," and that all provinces and territories called for major changes to Bill C-69 and were ignored by the Liberal government; It is the opinion of the committee that Bill C-69 should be repealed, and report this finding to the House in order for the House to vote on the viability of the bill given the Supreme Court’s majority ruling.
