Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, November 21, 2024, the committee commenced its study of environmental contamination in the vicinity of the dock in Fort Chipewyan.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

Motion

Taylor Bachrach moved, — That the committee order Transport Canada to produce by Wednesday, December 4, 2024, all communications by which the department or third parties notified the Fort Chipewyan Métis Nation and Mikisew Cree First Nation of environmental reports describing the contamination at “Big Dock”, as described in the minister’s Tuesday, December 3, 2024, letter.

Debate arose thereon.

At 6:08 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 6:14 p.m., the meeting resumed.

Amendment

Laila Goodridge moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “Wednesday, December 4, 2024” with the words “Thursday, December 5, 2024, 10:00 a.m. EST”.

By unanimous consent, after debate, the question was put on the amendment of Laila Goodridge and it was agreed to.

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

ORDERED - That the committee order Transport Canada to produce by Thursday, December 5, 2024, 10:00 a.m. EST, all communications by which the department or third parties notified the Fort Chipewyan Métis Nation and Mikisew Cree First Nation of environmental reports describing the contamination at “Big Dock”, as described in the minister’s Tuesday, December 3, 2024, letter.

At 6:17 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
